Car TV Guys: They Too Are Humans

Two years ago we were in Colorado Springs Colorado and staying at the Broadmoor Hotel. It’s a beautiful place, well known throughout the world.
We were walking down a long hallway and made a sharp turn and this guy was coming right at us. I stopped him ever so politely and asked if he could take the time for a picture.
The guy is obviously Aaron Kaufman from the hit TV show Fast N Loud aka Gas Monkeys. He immediately introduced his girlfriend and stood next to me for my moment in the sun. He was genuine and very polite. Clearly he stood out amongst the crowd there and he didn’t seem to care if he was seen or not. If he is this way all the time he is a 10 in my book.
We took some pictures and had some idle talk.
It turns out he was there to do the Pikes Peak run in his souped up Ford Falcon. They made a episode or two about his successful run. I can attest to the difficulty of that run up the mountain and it takes a bigger gut than me to do that. You miss a turn and off you go into oblivion.
Aaron told me this was not a one and done deal in that he was going to return and do it again. He also has some other bucket list items he hopes to do and for me, I hope he is just as successful.
In conclusion if you see one of these TV guys do not be afraid to approach them. In this case, Aaron was just like you and I in that he loves the hobby and is living out one of his dreams.
