Muscle car lovers who live in the EU and are thinking of buying a new vehicle had better get their skates on. EU emissions rules which come in after August 31 2019 means the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro won’t be available to buy after this date.

According to motoringresearch.com the UK’s only authorized dealer, Ian Allan Motors of Virginia Water, will be taking delivery of the last lot of Corvettes and Camaros. Prices for the Camaro start from £39,995, with Corvette prices starting at £67,000. Still great value considering the power and performance on offer.

Grabbing one of these legendary V8 machines which have powered over 100 million vehicles over the decades is a surefire future collectors item. But, what does the new rules mean for muscle car fans across Europe?

Basically, CO2 emission standards for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the EU are being ever more restricted. There’s plenty of reading around this subject from the EU action to curb air pollution by cars: Questions and Answers and Affected vehicles from the Brussels website, but the simplest route is to ask dealers are directly which vehicles are affected from now on.

Times are definitely changing, but that doesn’t mean muscle cars and the like can’t still be enjoyed. On-going, muscle cars will have to adapt to the times, most probably like the introduction of the upcoming Corvette C8 with a hybrid powertrain.
