Central Office Purchase Orders (COPO) were not solely the purview of Yenko. There was Baldwin Motion, Nickel Chevrolet, Fred Gibb, Dana Chevrolet, as well as many more. Plenty of dealers knew how to order the ultimate set of options that made up the meat and bones of these factory race cars.

Why is there so much written about these supercars? Well, in 1969 these Chevelles achieved 60 in 5.1 seconds and finishes a quarter mile in 13.3 seconds at 108 mph! These numbers may be a bit easier to find in this day and age, but in 1969?

Parts needed for a COPO Chevelle:

– Super Sport blackout grille with bow tie emblem
– Super Sport hood
– Black rear cove panel
– 12-bolt differential with 4.10:1 gearing (code KQ)
– Standard Malibu interior
– Either SS emblem or Bow Tie emblem on steering wheel
– L72 425hp 427 (code MQ with four-speed transmission or code MP with TH400 automatic transmission).
– Optional: Side body stripes, RPO NC8 chambered exhaust.

The videos below will give you a flavor of a COPO vehicle and if you ever come across one in good condition. Think of a three figure pricetag, but worth every cent.
