2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hot Wheels Edition Review

Car lovers of any age should be familiar with Hot Wheels toy cars. With so many digital distractions these days, you would think the humble toy car would have gone the way of the dinosaur, but there’s still nothing like having tactile feel and excitement of throwing a toy car down a track. With 50 years under their belt at Hot Wheel producing classic toy muscle cars, why not produce a full-size version. We never grow out of buying toys, they just get more expensive as we grow older……….

Chevy have produced a 50th anniversary Camaro SS Hot Wheels Edition, but what’s the thing like to drive? The car fulfils the dream of many a grown-up child’s ambition of a full-size version of a Hot Wheels Camaro and the videos below will give you a taster into what the car is like in real life. There’s no doubt that the current Camaro SS is one fantastic vehicle so really the video is about what the Hot Wheels package brings to the car.

It’s worth checking out both the videos below, but in many ways people who buy into this car are at least partly doing so for a future collectors item. The outside styling isn’t overt in Crush Orange(shame as I wanted the sparkly orange paint from the model car!), but rather has Hot Wheels badging(on the two front fenders, rear and step plates) black interior with orange accents and the cool black stripes to make it stand out. The rest of the package brings you a eight speed transmission, exorcist, navigation and magnetic ride control. The Camaro SS 6.2-liter V8/455hp is still under the hood. If you love the current Camaro and you’re in the market for one, it may be worth just laying down that bit extra for a limited edition model. I bet the Hot Wheels Edition will also tick off many a childhood bucket list item for finally having a real-life version of the toy car(It’s okay, your secrets safe….!)

MSRP is $52,570, including the $4995 for the Hot Wheels package.
