1970 Plymouth Barracuda AAR J Code, But In Bad Shape
By Peter Holloway
It is clear that this ‘Cuda has seen better days, but let’s see what the positives are here.
He has a 346 pack and is said to be 1 of 1,120 with a four speed pistol grip, and one of only 145 in its original Rallye red.
Came originally with a 833 four speed and a 3.55 sure grip 83/3 rear. The downside being that the powertrain is a 1970s, but not original to the car. The engine said to be able to turn over freely.
The VIN plates seem to be in place on the engine bay and windshield.
Aspects of the original color you can see around the car, like in the trunk and engine bay, but the rest of the car will be a labour of love to bring back to condition.
The car has said to have been in storage for decades and is now being pulled out for sale.
Although it’s by it now price is $18,340.00, the current bid as of writing is $6,700.00 and with a car in this condition there is much room for haggling.
As this Barracuda is an AAR, it could fetch anything up to high $80,000 , as in this example but you will need deep pockets to get it to this condition.
