Like the rest of the vintage muscle car market, the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is steadily increasing in value with the SS with 396 and 454 engines being the top of the heap. This example has a 396ci. V8, in quality condition and even has a factory stripe delete making it a bit more plain looking but also that bit rarer.
Not much information here to go off apart from the listings stating car has two original build sheets, original protecto plate and to prove its quality has been inspected by Chris White and certified by MCACN judge Steve Shauger. The drivetrain is numbers matching and is said to have done only 8,900 miles. No mention here of any prior restoration jobs and how much of the rest of the car is completely original. Serious buyers will need to acquire this information from the owner.
When you start to get into expensive muscle car territory you can start to be a little more picky with the details. Although the Chevelle looks like a show car, it does have a few signs of surface rust on the underside and in the engine bay near the radiator. Clearly nothing major but a bit more detailing could slightly increase the value.
This Chevelle is not the cheapest nor is it the most expensive out there. With the stripe delete, awards and certification, it’s quite a rarity and really any 1970 Chevelle SS is worth its weight in gold. Obviously a 454 version would have been nice here, but you could almost double the value in this case. If you’re in the market for a tasty vintage muscle car, this one. Maybe worth shortlisting and you really can’t go wrong with a 1970 Chevelle SS.
