1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 427, Matching Numbers
There’s something about a classic Impala that never goes out of fashion. Many rate the ’62 and ’64 models, but personally any Impala from this era is magnificent.
This example went into hibernation in 1980, with only 28,000 miles on the clock. Now it has come out, it is in total original condition, apart from some changes as below and waiting for a new owner.
The car comes in triple black (still original) with the ultra-rare L36 427 engine.
As you would expect with a completely original vehicle like this one, it does have a few blemishes here and there like a few rust spots behind each rear wheel well.
All the chrome work seems to be in excellent condition considering its age, just like the interior.
The one thing that has been upgraded is a new top as the old one was too brittle.
The engine is numbers matching with the codes T=Tonowanda assembly plant, 1228=December 28 assembly date, IJ=L36 427/390 engine, R=Rochester carburetor.
The brakes are new along with a new gas tank, while the original master cylinder was rebuilt.
In total, a magnificent time capsule of an Impala.
This is a preserved, not restored vehicle and considering the asking price of $64,900.00, you could still get this ride with a winning bid.
