When it comes to expensive muscle cars it’s usually the likes of Plymouth, Shelby Dodge that fetch the big money, but in this case it’s a 1972 Buick GS Stage 1. The GS Stage 1 was arguably one of the finest from Bewick and the muscle car era and this one is being sold for top dollar.

The ad. itself is hard to read in full caps, but it’s essentially a factory corporate office ordered Buick for the 1972 NHRA season with complete original sheet metal and interior. The engine is now a Philips/Wilkerson Street strip engine. Out of the 728 GS Stage 1s built in 1972, it is said to be one of 16 with red paint and white top and possible the only one with this options package. obviously for this type of money you would expect everything to be as top-notch as possible , and it comes with tons of documentation and all the magazines the car has featured in over the years. It’s even said to come with the original tissue dispenser from competition!
This Buick has clearly been a race winner and top of its game as a show car, having won races such as the Southwest Division 7 WCS Stock Class, Grand Premier Won Class, Winternationals World Champion and World Finals World Champion, along with featuring in magazines such as Hot Rod, Pennzoil and Carcraft to name but a few.
If everything checks out on this Buick, it’s the top of the heap where these cars are concerned, so the question is , is it worth its $850,000.00 pricetag? Considering from the article above the asking price in 2001 was $39,500, you can see how the value with these cars can escalate. Tempted?
