The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500’s Four Exhaust Modes
By Dave Ashton
As the specs. for the upcoming 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 slowly get drip fed to the public up to its release date, the Road & Track team have put together this nice video going through the different exhaust modes on the vehicle.
Turn up the volume for this one as the video previews the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 in all its symphonic glory, giving your ears an interior and exterior soundscape of all the exhaust modes – normal, quiet, sports and track. Listening through the different exhaust modes is like choosing the different EQ settings on a Hifi system and checking out the differences. Track mode sounds the most brutal and loud, with sports mode just a touch quieter. Quiet mode, isn’t, well, very quiet, rather, more sedate compared to the others and normal mode is a touch more aggressive sounding than quiet.
The good news is that all of the exhaust modes sound amazing. A bit like if you could transport the voice of Pavarotti into a roaring lion. World-class tone with the ‘umph’ and volume of a PA system. The exact amount of horses has yet to be revealed by Ford, but it’s expected to be 700+.
