The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Is Coming

The Challenger SRT Demon and the Camaro ZL1 1LE maybe getting all the limelight in the pony/muscle car world, but that seem short lived . Once Ford believes the upgraded Shelby GT500 for 2020. It’s likely it’ll see the light of day, somewhere in 2019. Up to now there’s just been sneak peeks and teaser videos like the one below.

One of the main talking points will be the cross-plane crank, supercharged 5.2-liter V8, which is an enhanced version currently on the GT350R. Not to be outdone with the amount of horses, the engine is expected to top 700HP may even get close to 800HP. We have to wait and see on this one. It will also be more dragstrip focused to compete against the Demon and ZL1, with the GT350R being the one more focus to the track. The engine could be mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission, with other options, possibly a 6 speed manual or 10 speed automatic.

Carbon fibre should adorn the new car, from its rear wing, wheels and brake rotors. Teaser videos of also shown a vented hood.

If all goes well, you should be the most outstanding Mustang Shelby GT500 to date.
