Do You Remember Hot Rod White Walls

This is an old picture of a hot rod parked outside. Gangster white walls on this rod really make a statement. What is the statement? I have a hot rod and you don’t. The owner of this rod wanted this to stick out and stick out it does.

Those gigantic white walls need bleached white daily to keep them clean. The car is unique. This picture was taken a long long time ago yet many hot rods of today still look like this. Why? Well, one reason is there are limitations on what is possible unless you rat rod a car. Then everything goes. But if you are going straight hot rod it’s kind of cool to build one like they did say fifty years ago. It’s a classic and it has heritage.

We honor those before us that saw a car, had a vision, and then had the courage to build it. Typically hot rods were not the most comfortable cars on the road. But today we have rods that have automatic transmissions, air conditioning, and a host of bells and whistles. Today we can cruise across the country with no issue in complete comfort. Back in the day you cruised your town or maybe the next one over. Once home you would need a massage and a back rub to help those tired muscles.

The white walls on the tires of any performance vehicle add a bit of retro feel, and are loud and bright enough to get anyone’s attention.
White lettering is cool, but why not go the whole hog.
