PONTIAC: The Super Duty Story

The Pontiac Super Duty program was to counter their original ‘boring’ image and usher in cars that were all-round more exciting.

Hard to imagine now, but Pontiac originally had the image of the ultra-reliable, good for 100,000 mile vehicles, which was good, but was also seen as stuffy, slow and old.
In the mid-50s Pontiac looking like the company to go down, but instead did a complete U-turn with their super duty program and turned their vehicles from the stoic cars of pre-mid-50s to the great muscle cars of the late 60s and 70s.
