Muscle Car Talk: They Are All Classics.

Believe it or not there are a fair amount of people out in our hobby that believe only classics like this should be called classics.

They believe strongly that a ’69 Mustang has no place in the classic car world even though it is 45 years old. These folks believe the classics are from only the 1950’s when the hot rods really lit up the streets. We all know it started after World War Two but the hobby or classic life really came on strong in the late fifties. The music, the hair , the clothes, Elvis, and street drag racing.

It’s hard to argue with all that but so many great cars were built in the 60’s and 70’s it’s impossible to put them aside. If we did we would lose the entire Mustang line, the Copo and Yenko line, the Mopar line and so on.

So, these cars like what is pictured here, may have really jump started the whole craze but the next era to it’s heights never imagined then and now.

When I say now, look at the prices of all these classics. I just told someone about a month ago we need a hobby price adjustment as I see cars selling for unheard of prices. You can argue they are selling but I am more concerned about the guy that wants to get into the hobby. Can he swing 35 or 40 K just as a starter car! Zooks, I dare say no. Anything popular from the 50’s , 60’s or 70’s is going to need a stack of cash to get a foot hold in our hobby and I don’t like that. That scenario can keep a lot of good people out and only a select few in. It will be interesting to see if we get a bubble anytime soon.
