A car dealership in West Palm Beach, Florida, is being threatened with fines from city officials for placing too many American flags on his parking lot.

Mike Wangle who is the general manager of a Kia dealership said unless he takes down the banners, he’ll be fined $1000 a day until they are taken down.
Mr. Wangle has until 6th July to take down the flags.

The controversy has come because officials say that their city zoning ordinance prohibits sale signs known as ‘feather banners.’
These include banners made of plastics, lightweight fabrics or any banners that are open signs or sale signs. Also, a local business can only display up to 3 flags.

“I don’t have a problem taking the banners down if we had banners saying ‘we’re open’, or a ‘big sale’, those are banners,” Wangle said, “but when you’re displaying the American flag, that’s a little different. That’s why we’re kind of upset about it.”

Do you think local officials were correct in asking the dealership to take down the flags or is this a bad decision?
