Plymouth more or less got the muscle car design bang on in 1968 when the Road Runner was first released into the wild. The design lasted up to 1970, with the second generation (’71-74) versions opting for a more rounded off appearance and remarkably different front end. However, the first-generation design looks the most muscular and classic.
This one has been freshly restored and is said to be 1 of 169 Hemi V8s with a hardtop and only 1 of 61 automatics for this year. Its also only 1 of 8 automatics now known to exist with a QQ Electric Blue exterior and Black interior. It’s had a fresh full rotisserie restoration. The original Hemi engine is said to have cracked in a freeze, so it’s had a period correct replacement still keeping the original head, manifold and valve covers. The transmission is original as is the 8 3/4 rear end. The car also keeps the original factory steel wheels and dog dish caps.
Being a fresh restoration, everything is in mint condition inside and out and as the listing comes with plenty of images, you can analyse the car to your hearts content. The deciding factor here is really if all the paperwork checks out. There’s no mention of if the car has had a Galen Govier report or similar, as this would clarify its value, but it seems similar 1968 Roadrunner Hemis are currently asking high $70k asking prices, so there may be room for little haggling here.
Doing a quick Google search quickly found that the same car is being listed on classic cars.com for $135k . What do you guys/gals think?
