Find Of The Day: 1965 Pontiac GTO

A prime condition 1965 Pontiac GTO is a fine thing to behold and arguably one of the starters of the muscle car revolution.
This example, however, has seen better days.
The ad. says the car’s been off the road since the 70s, and although it still has its original factory paint the original motor has been replaced and is said to have a runnable 326 with an automatic transmission that is not hooked up.
The car is said to originally be a 389 4 bl automatic with power windows and antenna, but the main thing here is to see the result of its long-standing and the damages up to now.
The exterior does show some of its original paint, but the majority is covered in surface rust with some clear rust holes, especially apparent in the rear quarters. The ad. says that it will need a new trunk and floor pans, with the frame being ‘good.’ nearly every panel looks like it will need some work with possibly most needing replacing.
How deep this rust goes will have to be checked out in person, but you can take it as this car being a big restoration job with tons of welding needed at the least.
The interior looks like it’s had its fair share of abuse over the years, with rusting and much needing replacing in here.
The seats amazingly are probably in the best condition here.
There seems to be a bunch of documentation that comes with this GTO to back up its originality and for a buy it now price of $5900 you may think this is reasonable for an original muscle car, but you will definitely have your work cut out in every area here if you take on this project.
