In the golden age of the 60’s and 70’s we all read Hot Rod magazine for the latest in car stuff and Mad Magazine for the latest funny stuff.
Rat Fink was a character drawn by Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth as a sort of anti Mickey Mouse, with bulging eyes, grotesque looks, R.F. shirt and driving some kind of hotrod.
The look of Rat Fink just appealed to boys young and old of the day.

There were Fink posters, magazines, toys and more. Every boy had some sort of Rat Fink somewhere in his bedroom. The older kids had the Fink in the garages as Rat Fink was the coolest.

Big Daddy Roth also customised his own cars, but will be mostly known for his artwork, which spread across the car scene.

Ed. Roth’s artwork still resonates today from his many characters in the same grotesque style.
