Dream Cars For 2017: The Dodge all Wheel Drive Muscle Car, Chargers and Challengers

We mentioned back in early December that Dodge are releasing a Challenger GT with AWD, the first muscle car with all wheel drive. 2017 should see the release of both a Challenger and a Charger in all wheel drive in a variety of specs.

Although everyone would like the fullbore 707 HP hellcat engine to be all wheel drive, the production models will have a 3.6L Pentastar V6 good for 305 HP and 268lbs. ft. of torque. The Charger seems to have similar specs and ironically, if you checkout the Dodge website you can see current listings for the various all wheel drive Chargers, but the challenger listings are still on 2016.
It seems at the moment the top AWD model you can get in the Charger is the SXT AWD at $31,995 with the 3.6 L Pentastar engine, with a SE AWD coming in at $30,245 with what seems the same engine spec. I’m guessing Dodge are waiting to clear their stock of current challengers before the 2017 models go up on their site. Until then, we won’t see the exact specifications of the new Challenger.

It seems now Dodge are trying to cover all bases from the base SE model to the Hellcat to allow customers to enjoy the muscle car experience no matter the price band.
