Crash Testing A 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air And 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.

If you’re a Chevy Bel-Air fan, you may feel a slight tightening or clenching in certain areas of your body when you watch this video.

The video is to outline the advances in car safety over the years, testing a late 50’s model car against a 2009 vehicle.
As you’d expect, the new car should fair far better, as many advances have been made over the years in car safety.
This isn’t to put a negative on the older cars, just to show the advancements that have been made over the years.

Similarly, if a Ford model A was crash tested against the same 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air, there will be car safety issues there, but it doesn’t mean the Model A is less of a car, just a car from a different time period.

One thing is for sure, it hurts more seeing the older car getting totalled than the new Malibu.

The crash test was conducted at an event to celebrate the contributions of auto insurers to highway safety progress over 50 years.
