Consider A Muscle Car Convertible
By Mark Weisseg
This is a Chevelle convertible SS with a 396. Girls and boys it does not get much better than this. Think of a warm Summer’s night with the sky as clear as can be. Imagine two to four of you just rolling along. Conversations are everywhere, your hair in full knot mode but who cares? This car is awesome. It’s a true classic in every sense of the word. And, if some old geezer is dragging along in the left lane at 35 mph you don’t need much of the throttle to get past the driving dead.
When it comes to muscle cars or performance vehicles, a convertible isn’t the first choice. Basically, no roof means more support needed on the chassis, which will either make the car heavier or not as rigid as a car with a roof. However, convertible muscle cars fetch the most money. A 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible 4-Speed sold for $3.5 Million in 2014 and a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 sold for $3.2 Million in 2013.
Ignoring resale value, the summer months and a convertible just go hand-in-hand and you don’t have to pay top auction prices to buy a solid convertible. Look for some of the ‘out’ years and models that come in convertible form.
When you are driving one of these cars you just don’t want the night to end. It’s magical and you want it to last forever. I know that feeling and I know how crummy you feel when you get home. You feel like you have been gyped out of a good time.
Those days are a few months away for us, so you sunshine guys and gals I hope are taking advantage of any sun you get.
This Chevelle convertible represents the sunshine and the need for everyone to never take it for granted.
