Australia’s Greatest Muscle Car: The Holden LX Torana A9X

Australia has always been a great content for muscle cars and now according to wheelsmag.com.au they have chosen the greatest Australian muscle car of all time. Not that this was a straightahead decision, but the Holden LX Torana A9X seems to have won out in the end amongst the many fantastic muscle cars Australia has produced.

The Holden LX Torana A9X won the top spot with half the staffer’s votes and two successive Bathurst 1000 wins, two Australian Touring Car Championships and plenty of individual wins across its history.

The A9X came with a 5 L V8 making 186kW and 434Nm, through to a 10 bolt Salisbury differential and a Borg Warner Super T10 four-speed manual transmission. Racing versions of the car housed a L34 engine.

Close contenders came in the form of the HT Monaro GTS 350, the VK Commodore SS Group A, the HSV W427 and the HSV GTSR W1.
