‘When you put your foot down, you can feel the earth move.’
‘This car is Conan the Barbarian with the humor of Burt Reynolds.’ (Probably the best quote to sum up muscle cars, ever….)

The Producer and Director Bernhard Floedl contacted us with his new film ‘MotiV8tion – An American Muscle Car Brotherhood in The Pearl Of The Orient.’
The film is a glimpse into the muscle car scene in the Philippines, from the small backstreet workshops to the high-end collectors. It gives you an insight into the emotions, sounds and motivations behind all these muscle car lovers.

‘My name is Bernhard Floedl, I am an Austrian national from Manila, Philippines, which I call my home since 1985. I have been a muscle car enthusiast for 30 years and through that time I have restored and owned numerous vintage American cars. In fact, I’ve never owned a new car. I have always used my vintage cars as my daily drivers.’

‘More than two years ago I became aware of some young, unknown Filipino filmmakers working under the name of Fuguwi Collective. Upon seeing their work I came up with the idea of doing a documentary about the American Muscle Car scene in Manila. The documentary features a group of average people with different nationalities and backgrounds who live in Manila, who find unity and brotherhood through the love for cars, enjoyment of restoration and proudly owning and driving vintage American muscle. The documentary’s goal was to showcase Filipino craftsmanship and ingenuity and therefore also features various, unusual local restoration workshops and the interesting owners who run them. Furthermore, another reason for doing this project was to give exposure to unnoticed talented Filipino visual artists.’

‘Vintage American cars have become part of Philippine cultural heritage; the Philippines is unique in South East Asia as probably the only country that actually still has and preserves these cars. It was mainly because of American military bases like Clark and Subic that those cars found their way here and were then left behind by American servicemen.’

‘I have been producing this film, together with a friend of mine, out of our own pockets, without sponsors, and totally unaffiliated to any entertainment outfit or company. Despite the limited budget, we were able to do a documentary which certainly meets the highest standards.’ said Bernhard.

The film shows that no matter where you are in the world, muscle car lovers are the same. Ultra-passionate about their vehicles.

The film is still waiting to get worldwide distribution and interest, but as you can see, this is a tale everyone should know about.
