Rare factory options maketh a muscle car. You may own a vehicle the same as the rest out there, but it just needs that one unique option ordered at the time to make it a one-off. This 1972 Dodge Charger SE clearly needs a full restoration, but its main talking point is its combo of 440 V8 engine with power sunroof. However, this is stated as ‘possibly’ as 720 Chargers were made with the 440 engine that year, with 398 with power sunroofs, this ‘possibly’ the only one with both amongst other options.
The ad. also says it has other unique options such as the special order dark metallic silver paint, SE chrome package, SE trim, amongst others. The original 440 engine (which looks like just the block is left) has been replaced sometime in the past and the 727 transmission may not be original, but the ‘the fender tag, vin tags, door tag, radiator support, cowl stamping and build sheet’ are all in order.
The car is said to be virtually rust free with the interior relatively intact, but bench seats looking like they need a completely re-covering. The sunroof is definitely a rare option it has other aspects definitely pointer into the rarest category, but it definitely needs fully verifying by an eagle eyed, VIN tag decoder to see this is definitely one of one vehicle. even with the sunroof under other options, this could be a vehicle to shortlist.
