50th Anniversary Shelby Super Snake Coming In 2017

A 50th anniversary Shelby Super Snake was announced for release at the 2017 Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auction recently to commemorate the original vehicle with only 500 being available for sale worldwide. The original Super Snake GT500 was built by Shelby American back in 1967, which featured a 427ci FE V8 engine and thin-thick-thin stripes is now on the anniversary list as a future rarity.

The Super Snake name was brought back in 2007 as an upgrade to the 2007 GT 500 with 600 HP, but now with the more advanced Mustang the Super Snake is back with all its bells and whistles. The 2017 model will include the base Ford Mustang GT with a supercharged 670 hp engine, with all the upgrades For $69,995….quite a bargain.

The car is being built with collaboration from Ford performance, Michelin, Wilwood and Borla with some new to market upgrades. Handling is been sharpened up with independent suspension and upgraded brakes and the 5L V8 engine has forced induction with an optional supercharger that can hit 750 HP. This equates to a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.9 seconds.

The anniversary package itself will cost $36,795, which doesn’t include the base for Mustang GT. It’s been offered in all of Fords range of colours in either an automatic or manual transmission. The car will also be built at the Las Vegas facility and Shelby’s mod. shop.
