We have featured the Hennessey performance built ‘Exorcist‘ in the past, mainly because of its 1,000HP output and it’s clever marketing of being a Dodge Demon slayer. Personally, the linkage to being able to beat the Dodge Demon is really apples and pears due to the ground up built applications and the Exorcist being a custom-built, while the Demon comes as it is straight from the factory. The Exorcist is probably better round a track, while the Demon is better in a straight line. Both seem to be good, regular roadgoing vehicles as long as you’re happy with the fuel consumption.

Initially you’d think that the Dodge Demon would be harder to acquire, but they’re now popping up for sale on eBay, and this I think is the first time I’ve seen the Exorcist for sale, past being ordered straight from the factory. In any case, the Exorcist is built by a renowned outfit, so the car will hold its price and probably go up in value, along with being a mean performer with the street cred. of having 1,000hp on tap.

The heart of the Exorcist is a Camaro ZL1 with some serious upgrades. The Chevy LT4 V8 engine can produce 1000 bhp at 6,400 rpm and 966 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm, with with the help of a supercharger and intercooler system adding 14 psi of boost. The car can also do 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds and a quarter mile in under 10 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. Apparently only 100 units will be made each model year.

Clearly this is a killer vehicle and you are getting the top end of power and performance, but if you want to do the Dodge Demon comparison, it’s really down to what you’re getting for your money. Dodge Demons have sold out, but seem to be selling on the second-hand market for around $118K – $140K. Less horsepower at 840hp, but better at its own thing and the more thoroughbred muscle car. The Demon has also more hype and awareness, meaning its value will steadily increase over the years. The Exorcist maybe the same, but unlikely at the same extent. The Exorcist is more track focused and with 1,000 horsepower at your disposable will be ridiculous fun.

Therefore, if you want the best of what you can get in the form of a modern Camaro, this is probably the choice. If you want the best in modern muscle car and willing to pay a bit more, then the Dodge Demon maybe the answer.
