2016 Camaro SS Faces 90 Days in Jail Clocked at 171 MPH

A 2016 Camaro 1SS owner from Minnesota was recently clocked doing 171 mph, chased by a Dodge Charger police car.

The Jet black 1SS Camaro was chased down on Highway 61, ‘He was going north, or east, toward Two Harbors. … The first speed that came up was 171, then 168 and then 143. When he went by me it was a blur. You get used to seeing people going 65 or 70 and what that looks like. But I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s like a rocket on wheels at that point,’ the officer explained.

The driver now has a potential 90 days in jail and a $1000 fine after the incident.

One of the main point here is that the 2016 Camaro 1SS is meant to have a top speed of around 160 mph, so the speed he was going was either derived from modifications to the car or let’s say an overly enthusiastic speed gun. One things for sure, doing even 160 mph on the highway is dangerous at the best of times.

Either way, doing this sort of speeds on the public highway is not advised. Leave it to the track as you will know you have a clear road ahead.
It’s sort of the case of just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
