I wonder what the pickup truck scene would be like if Prince sang, ‘Lil Red Express’ instead of ‘Little Red Corvette?’ At least more truck sales in the 80s, maybe….

Trucks and pickups are not the first thing you think of with muscle, but some had the torque of a good muscle car with the work ethic of a every day vehicle.
You arguably don’t get the looks of a performance vehicle, but that wasn’t the idea. You could think of muscle trucks and pickups as working man’s muscle, no-frills, but just as much grunt.

This 1979 Dodge Lil’ Red Express is only Lil’ in name, so if trucks are your thing, this Lil’ baby could be your next great ride.

‘I bought this 1979 Dodge little red express adventurer truck from a estate sale in southwest min back in 2012. It was a one owner truck that the family sold when the registered owner passed away. I have a copy of the original title in his name along with the original registration etc. This truck has been in my collection since. I have used it as a daily driver on nice days back and forth from my home to my work about 30 miles away and driving my kids to the local trout streams.

Mechanically, this truck runs great and sounds amazing. When I first bought it, I had a mechanic go through the whole truck for me. He recommended I put a renamed 727 transmission in which I did( seals were dried out from sitting and it shifted hard) He also replaced the interceptor 4 barrel carb (approx. $600) The 360 v8 engine is running great with lots of power. This truck really wants to move!

The interior of this truck looks extremely clean and it has the rare bucket seat option. The leather looks good on the seats (like new). The floor pans look rust free and the carpeting is in good shape. I pictured any minor flaw I did see. I purchased new lil red floor mats that go with the truck. The glass is all good and the windows go up and down with ease. The doors open and shut and latch the way they should. This truck is one of the cleanest survivor lil red I have come across. It is mostly original paint. I was told that the previous owner replaced the front left fender at one time. It still has the original wood in the box that has held up well. It has the, from what I can tell, the correct lil red wheels and tires. The tires look good with good tred.

The exhaust is new. I replaced the original mufflers through our muffler shop straight to the exhaust stack pipes (over $600) (watch video to hear how awesome they sound) The dash looks good with no cracking, I saw that the silver paint around the gauges was thin. All of the gauges are working along with the radio ,lights, etc, (the gas gauge comes and goes) The chrome looks good overall and shows well.’
