1974 Dodge Charger R/T From Brazil!
By Dave Ashton
Here we have something out of the ordinary, a 1974 Dodge Charger R/T but, it’s a Brazilian version. Like most car manufacturers, Dodge produced vehicles for other territories, kept a popular model name, but the underpinnings were completely different to the American versions.
The one you see here was grabbed from Facebook showing a 1974 Dodge Charger R/T 318 V8 4 Speed, with 215hp. They say it was the most powerful muscle car available in Brazil at the time.
Doing a little digging around online, automobilecatalogue.com have some details on the Brazilian 1974 Dodge Charger R/T. They state it was capable of ‘0 to 60 mph in 8.2 sec, from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 sec, from 0 to 160 km/h (100 mph) in 26.4 sec and the quarter mile drag time is 16.5 sec.’ not too shabby….. There’s also plenty of other performance stats. on the webpage, but nothing about production numbers.
The model must have been important enough as Hot Wheels seemed to have made a version back in the day, which you can check out here.
