The problem with tribute cars is that they can be a big washy grey area ranging from almost a restomod to what is in this case an original 1968 Dodge Coronet with numbers matching powertrain and seemingly just Superbee insignia. This example has clearly had a thorough restoration and looks mostly original, so why not keep it completely that way?
Anyways, the good bits here is that it’s had a complete restoration with apparently ‘$10k in Body and Paint alone’, ‘Convertible Top both rams ($2800 spent on just top)’, ‘All NEW front and rear suspensions’ and ‘All NEW Red Interior.’ There’s no mention of the paperwork that comes with the car.
The twin-scooped air induction hood is a nice addition, but wasn’t that introduced in 1969? Looking at the ground around the car, it seems like it’s had a fresh wash, thus giving the gleaming appearance. But I think this is just a small factor as the car is clearly in great shape both inside and out.
There’s no mention of any other Super Bee type ‘bits’ on the car, so it was probably on looks alone, but the most interesting thing here is the cheap starting price of only $2000. This is clearly going to shoot up, but currently with not many watchers, it will be interesting to see what the price does eventually climbed up to.
This ride with promises somebody wants a vintage muscle car in convertible form which is in fantastic condition and ready to go without spending an astronomical amount. The car clearly looks exceptional and if you’re not too fussy about all originality, this could be a clear winner at the right price.
