1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL Convertible

This 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL Convertible currently for sale on Craigslist may not be completely original, but everything is solid enough to make a nice cruising machine. This Fairlane has been sitting in a garage for over 20 years and has minimal rust, maintained up to now by its present owners.

There’s clearly some downsides here like the now white paintwork instead of the triple black and the replacement 302ci. instead of the original 289ci. The images show a vehicle with a reasonable interior apart from the duct tape on the driver’s seat and unless you’re going to do a complete restoration, not much is needed here. The convertible top is in pretty good condition, which is an unusual rarity for a garage find, but it does give some testament to how well this car has been kept over the years.

The price of this Fairline may be a little high, but with minimal work you can get this going as a daily driver and enjoys its classic features or you could go the whole hog and do a full restoration. Which route would you take with this classic?
