The modern Dodge Challenger has had lasting appeal for a number of reasons. One of these is having options going from the most basic to the ridiculously powerful, a muscle car for everybody’s taste. For the 2020 version of the Challenger there will be 19 package options available across the various trim levels, which can initially get confusing. Thus, a little overview of each may help to clarify things.

Performance Upgrade Packages
The 2020 Challenger Scat Pack is available with the Dynamics Package, which adds Hellcat Brembo brakes and tires. The Performance Handling Group comes to the Challenger GT and R/T adding in high-performance suspension, upgraded braking system, 20-inch ‘Lights Out’ wheels, tires and upgraded rear end with a 3.90 rear axle for manuals and a 3.09 rear axle for automatics. You can also add to this group package the Performance Plus Group which adds the wheels and tires from the Hellcat.

2020 Dodge Challenger Tuned Packages
The wide-body version is still listed as its own trim level. The 1320 package goes on the R/T Scat Pack with mechanical and trim options.
Both the R/T and Scat Pack can select the Shaker package which gets the Shaker hood system and design elements. The R/T Shaker models also gain fender badges and a black rear spoiler.

The Challenger T/A hits in 2020 for the R/T and Scat Pack models. The R/T T/A has added 20×9 inch low gloss black wheels and the Scat Pack T/A gets all-season performance tires and 20×9.5 inch black forged wheels. The wide-body package also comes to the 2020 Dodge Challenger for the Scat Pack, Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye. This doesn’t just add fancy wheel arches, but also competition suspension, fancy wheels and tires. The Scat Pack gets the same suspension setup with also Brembo six-piston brakes.

Exterior Packages
The exterior packages for the 2020 Challenger are a bit more straightforward. The Painted Black Satin Graphics Package is available on the SRT Hellcat and Redeye which adds a painted hood, roof and trunk. The Technology Group Package and adds some nice tech. features, such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, Forward Collision Warning, adaptive cruise control and auto high-beam headlamp control. Forward Collision Warning and adaptive cruise are only available on automatics and adaptive cruise doesn’t come with the Redeye.

Interior Packages
This area is where there is the most choice, with 7 packages being available. The Alcantara Appearance Package comes to the Hellcat and Redeye with Alcantara suede and premium Laguna leather seats, hellcat logos, power four-way lumbar adjust and Alcantara steering wheel for those who have chosen the Plus Group. The Laguna Leather Group package on the Plus Group, adds Laguna leather-wrapped seats and Hellcat logos.

The Mopar Interior Appearance Group comes to the SXT, GT, R/T and Scat Pack, but not for the all wheel drive or supercharger trims. The Rear Seat Delete Group package deletes the rear seat and other rear seat elements.

An Alpine Audio Group on naturally aspirated models comes with a souped up, 506-watt speaker system. The Cold Weather Group package comes to the SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD and R/T, with heated front seats and steering wheel and more powerful alternator. The Harman Kardon Audio Group is available on everything but the SXT models, adding in a premium Harman Kardon 900-watt amplifier, loads of speakers and tire service kit.

Inside and out
There are also packages which cover the interior and exterior. The Blacktop Package comes to the SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD and R/T. Features can depend on the trim level you choose, but include items like a black instrument panel cluster, black grille and badging, rear spoiler, black fuel door and 20-inch ‘Black Noise’ wheels. The SXT Blacktop package gets a leather steering wheel while the GT Blacktop package has its own grille badging and the R/T Blacktop package gets its own grille badge and Fender badging.

The Driver Convenience Group package is available on all 2020 Challengers, dependent on the trim level. These include some tech. upgrades such as Rear Cross Path detection and Blind-spot Monitoring. The Challenger SXT gets some more expensive model features such as ParkSense rear park assist system and the Challenger R/T gets fancier headlights.

The Plus Group has additional features, but depends on the trim level chosen. Just to complicate things, package items may differ depending on the trim and model, for example the Hellcat Plus Group has Premium stitched instrument panel and doors, Ventilated Nappa/Alcantara Performance seats with SRT Hellcat logo and Dark Engine Turn interior accents. While the Scat Pack Plus Group adds Door-trim panels with ambient lighting and Black-edged premium floor mats or red-edged premium floor mats.

Clearly, lots of choice and lots of options for the 2020 Challenger.
