A perfect condition 1969 Dodge Charger 500 is definitely a rarity and it seems this one is in that category. You don’t get a whole bunch of information with this one which is a shame, but everything looks in fine fettle on the surface.
The Dodge Charger 500 was built to take on the competition at NASCAR, but failed to do the business at the time, thus the introduction of the Dodge Charger Daytona soon after. Around 67 of the Charger 500s had a 426 Hemi engine, with the rest having the 440 Magnum engine. Some say only 392-3 models were made. The ad. itself says only 391.
This one sports the 440cu. engine with a possible Torqueflite A904 3-speed automatic or A727 3-speed automatic transmission. The interior is as you would expect at this price point, beautifully restored and everything working, including the A/C.
Now the last point comes down to the asking price of $119,000. Not a snip in anybody’s book, but looking around online Charger 500s due to their rarity and in this condition are popping up on the top car auction sites such as Barrett Jackson’s, Mecum and rkmotorscharlotte.com such as this listing. However, these are for the 426ci. versions going for roughly $150,000 – $250,000. The 440 like the one listed here will be a lot less and is probably at the right price point.
These cars will continue to go up in value, so if you want a surefire rarity, shortlist this priced muscle car.
