RogerD’s 1969 COPO HPC Chevelle

I think we are all had a car in the past which we wish we had never sold and wish we could only again.
Below is a success story from a muscle car fun who did achieve this goal.
Best put in Roger’s own words –
‘I bought this car new on Aug 19, 1969, first date with my wife (42 years and counting now) May 30, 1970, traded it off Oct 19, 1970, tracked it down and bought it back (needing restoration) Aug 13, 2009 – completed frame off “nut and bolt” restoration June 6, 2011 – Karen and I left the next morning for our first National ACES Chevell-Abration event . . .
Sad to say, ACES is no more as of January 2013 . . .’

But not just any old Chevelle, a 69 COPO which was then completely restored.
Like finding a long lost love…………

I asked Roger what was it like to drive the car again and did it feel the same you remembered it?
Roger replied, ‘Memories came flooding back when my wife and took our first spin after restoration was almost complete on Memorial Day 2011, 41 years to the day from our first “date” in this same car.’

May 21, 1966: Bought my first NEW car, a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 – drove over 105,000 miles in 3 years
Aug 19, 1969: Traded my aging ’66 Chevelle for the NEW ’69 COPO/DH at Bill Allen Chevrolet, Kansas City, MO
May 30, 1970: Met and took my future wife home from a Memorial Day gathering of mutual friends –
two weeks later we were engaged

Oct 19, 1970: Terminal engine problems, traded it for a NEW 1970 Camaro RS
Aug 13, 2009: Tracked it down/bought it back near Ottawa, IL needing full restoration
June 6, 2011: Restore complete, Premier Body and Paint, LLC – Buffalo MO, the Days and friends
