Kevin Hedstrom bought his first car in 1981, a special edition black and gold Pontiac Trans Am 301 Turbo from Markley Motors, Fort Collins. Kevin had to give up the car in 1985, but has now been reunited with the vehicle.

Inspired by the 1977 ‘Smokey the Bandit’ movie, Kevin just had to have his own Trans Am.
“Back in that day, you either owned a Trans Am or wished you had one,” Hedstrom said. He knew he could get a better deal if he got away from the oil fields, and the Pontiac dealers didn’t have the one he wanted on the lot. They would have had to special order it.

Living in North Dakota. At the time, he had to make the hard choice to move to a four wheel drive vehicle due to the harsh winters, selling the car in 1985.
Kevin kept all the paperwork for the car and decided to do an online search to see if he could locate it. After some digging Kevin located the present owner in St. Paul, Minn.

After some negotiation, Kevin and the present owner came to an agreement and Kevin was reunited with his car all these years later.

Kevin bought another Trans Am since his original and took part in the Bandit Run (http://thebanditrun.com/). He now plans to restore as original car.

“You never forget your first car. You’ll forget your second and third, but you never forget your first car,” he said.
