The IROC Z May Be The Best Buy For A Classic Muscle Car

The 1980’s aren’t seen traditionally as a great time for muscle cars, but Camaro IROC-Zs are now gaining in value from that era.

The IROC-Z Camaro was introduced in 1985 celebrating the International Race of Champions, sharing some components from the Corvette of the time, such as fuel injection and tires.
Reviews of the time said, ‘The Camaro looks like a hundred-thousand-dollar car, and if we saw Camaros as seldom as we see Ferraris, we’d probably pay that for it.” Car and Driver, being one of the best cars of 1985.

Built from 1985 to 1990, some examples have risen 50% in value since 2011, according to Haggerty, insurers.
Many IROC-Zs were driven to death, so it’s becoming ever increasingly rare to find a mint example that is numbers matching.
the ones who do wrong, mint examples are holding onto these rarities, increasing the value, especially as they are starting to be seen as modern classics.

As with all vehicles, the rarest examples have the option packages, so don’t just look for the usual low mileage, pristine examples.

This 1990 example auctioned at Barrett Jackson went for $49,500, but shopping around online, we found one on eBay for $27,995.00
So, examples are out there, but the prices are now slowly increasing.
