HSV Produce The Last Commodore With LS9.
By John Philips
Although General Motors is stopping production of the Holden Commodore in Australia in 2017, it’s destined to go out with a bang.
The Commodore has been a worthy muscle car since 1978 and its last dance should be one of its best. The Commodore will have a 6.2 L V8 engine from the LS9 Corvette ZR1 and being named the Commodore GTS-R W1 edition. This will produce 638 HP and 604 lbs. ft. of torque, based on the numbers from the current Corvette ZR1 and the new GTS-R edition.
The Commodore will also feature a number of special components such as the Supashock suspension system.
The car will come as a very limited edition model with only 250 being produced by the Walkinshow performance division.
It may be the end of an era for the Commodore, but as a future collectors car, it will stand out as one of the best Aussie muscle cars.
