‘An experiment…..for tomorrow!’
‘In an atmosphere conducive to research and study, GM, man of ideas, work for a better tomorrow.’

In an age where everybody looked to the future and where we all believed by now we would be living on the moon, traveling around in rocket ships and basically living the life of the Jetsons, this GM Firebird lll Gas Turbine car really did seem like the car of the future.

Almost a cross between a muscle car and a jet plane, the design and styling called the start of the space race and our highly technical future. It did all seemed possible at the time.

There were a few other models of the Firebird to 1964 with the Firebird IV, which were displayed at the New York World’s Fair, which was really only a display vehicle, which was reportedly destroyed in the 1980s.
Now the cars are reminiscent of our highly optimistic view of future in one of the landmarks of the start of our obsession with the space race.

‘This certainly is the future.’
