An extremely rare Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III has been discovered after 30 years of storage and is now going up for auction with tipped price of around $500,000. The car has less than 70,000 miles and is one own a car in Nugget Gold paintwork according to news.com.au.

It is usual for America to claim ownership of the muscle car, but Australia is a close contender with many classics like the 1973 Ford XB Falcon GT351 which appeared in the original Mad Max franchise. the affinity with the V8 engine continues up to present day and just like in America, this Ford Falcon presents the finest of its time. 300 of these were built and used in 1971 for the Australian Touring Car Championship claiming victory in the 1973 ATCC race.

The curator of Gosford Classic Car Museum, Ken Grindrod states, “It’s crazy, just crazy. It was bought by a gentleman in Western Australia who was in the air force. It hasn’t been driven, or even started, since 1982.”

The car comes with a 351 cid V8 engine with 300hp, Nugget Gold paintwork and has the VIN number – JG33LY87466K. it will be going up for auction on 28 October 2017. The current highest price for a Phase III is $683,650 in 2007, which should make interesting to see what this example eventually goes for.
