The First Shelby Cobra Breaks Auction Record: Most Valuable American Car Ever Sold.

RM Sotheby, Monterey were the hosts this past weekend to the sale of the very first Shelby Cobra CSX 2000.

The car sold for $13.75 million, which beat the previous record held by a 1968 Ford GT.

The Shelby Cobra CSX 2000 was the brainchild of Carroll Shelby, who took an AC Ace and added a Ford 260CI. V8.


The car has been a centrepiece of the Shelby Heritage museum in Las Vegas for many years and still serves to be one of the most original and best of the shelby line.
