Find Of The Day: Matching Numbers 1969 Dodge Charger R/T
By David Ashton
The 1969 Dodge Charger always makes the saliva glands work overtime. The star of stage and screen ( have they ever been on stage other than an auction?) makes it one of the most iconic muscle cars.
This example is an R/T, numbers matching, has a great 440cu. engine and is in reasonable condition for its age.
It’s already at $34,500 with three days to go which is expected to go up, but everything seems to be here for an original classic.
It seems to be some amateurish restoration work was done in the past round the bottom of the panels, typical bubbly Bondo work which is a shame on a car with an original A33 Track Pak, but a classic like this is worth the work.
The rear quarters also have some rust, but with that Bondo work, this is the smallest of the exterior work needed.
It’s not to say the bodywork is in bad condition as it clearly looks good, it’s just how much work will be entailed after all the Bondo is stripped back.
The two tone seats may or may not be original, but the rest of the interior is in fine shape from the dash to the rear seats.
The engine and engine bay look in great shape, with no signs of deterioration. With only 9000 miles on the clock you would hope that this engine would only need a good service to give you peace of mind.
Everything on this car seems to check out and it’s a shame about the Bondo work, but the real question is what the final price will end up at.
All things considered, this is a rare 69 Dodge Charger R/T and needs to be brought back to factory condition to get another fully restored classic muscle car on the books.
