It’s arguable that some of the finest muscle cars from the golden period of the late 60s to early 70s were Chevelle SS 454 models. They had the power, looks and styling that hit the spot for the times and still resonate today. This example is currently available on eBay and although in need of a full restoration, comes with plenty of parts.
The powertrain is currently not installed in the car which is a 454ci. engine and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Some of the other items are included with the sale listed are – a 331 Posi 12 bolt, Rear sway bar, intake manifold, cylinder heads, carburettor, exhaust manifold and valve covers.
The interior is extremely rough and dusty, with what looks like small tears in the dash and huge ones in the seats. How much can be salvaged is unclear from the included images, but it does look mostly intact. There aren’t many images to show the complete bodywork, but it’s clear that some of the panels have rust issues, but at least the bodywork looks relatively straight and recoverable.
The current price of $5000 try to the start of the auction, but if you can get this car for the right price, this could be a great project to work on over the winter months.
