Find Of The Day: 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee
By John Schofield
There is one thing for sure about this Dodge Coronet, it cannot say it hasn’t seen its fair share of snow. The car seems to be in reasonable condition, but it does have its caveats which we will discuss in a minute.
It seems that this was a project vehicle, which had an original 383 engine but they now ‘believe’ it to be a 1973 440 with a 727 transmission. The previous owner was changing this to an automatic. From the looks of the engine bay it seems that the engine is just dropped in there and everything else needs doing to complete.
The body seems solid, but does have some bondo work in the rear quarter panels. The underside view of the car looks fine in areas but one shot shows some rust areas, not sure how did these go, but the rest of the body metal seems at least relatively solid. You can also see some red paint poking through on parts of the car, with the seller saying in one of the comments they ‘think’ the car was originally black, but this will obviously need to be verified. The other worry is that there is no Fender tag.
The interior of the car looks in reasonable condition with what is said to be new door(s), rear interior panels and a new carpet. The dash and seats look in fair shape.
There’s not a ton of information with this vehicle, but at an asking price of $5800 with five days to go and if the engine is usable, this could make a reasonable project over the winter and spring months.
