Find Of The Day: 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible

By  |

This is a rare 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7, 1 of 48 in dark aqua metallic.

The convertible top seems to have been replaced in the past from a black to a white version.

It sports an M Code 351 Windsor 4V, which the ad says, ‘are believed to be original to the car.’ It also has the Ford 90X-424A intake manifold and a new Edelbrock 600 cfm carb.

It also sounds like the A/C parts have not been installed, but do come with the car.

The ad says that the car was also restored by a previous owner, which sounds like taking the car back to its shell. Upgrades, including sandblasting of nearly the entire body, hot tanking of major body parts including doors and rear deck, installation of new floor pans and application of DP-90 and new paint.

The only near negative notes about this ride are the gas filler door bezel, which is from a 1970 Eliminator and both rear quarter panel extensions having ‘dimples’ where they have been over tightened in the past. These however are minor points when you consider everything about this car.

It comes with service records since 1973, so everything in total here at up to a fine purchase.
