If there is a time to get excited over a muscle/pony car it’s when a COPO comes our way, especially in perfect condition. COPO (Central Office Production Order) vehicles were specially ordered and modified back in the day and due to their initial high prices, were sold in limited numbers and usually thrashed to death due to their sporting ability. This example is well documented as you can see and has benefited from a full restoration.

The car was found in a barn in Wisconsin and bought by Custom Classics to begin a three-year restoration process. The car’s authenticity was checked by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish before and after the restoration. The car has since won 3 Nationals and scored Gold class 991/1000.

The centre to any COPO vehicle is its ubiquitous L72 427ci. big block engine with rated 425 hp and upgraded engine parts, such as better heads and lifters, 11:1 compression and 12 bolt rear end. The car has only seen 26 miles since its full restoration.

As you’d expect with a restoration of this quality, everything looks in fine order from the inside out and with an asking price of just under $150,000, this is one of the finest of its breed.
