Is Fiat Chrysler Reviving The Barracuda Muscle Car?
By Dave Ashton
Muscle car brands names are thin on the ground compared to the classic era of the late 60s and 70s, but was well-known models are slowly being brought back this may also be the case for the Cuda name. Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) have recently renewed the trademark for ‘Cuda’ and ‘Barracuda’ at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Many companies renew their trademarks just to keep the property in their hands, so this may not mean a brand-new Cuda is on the horizon, but with an ever-growing interest in the muscle car market both home and abroad, it’s definitely not out of the question.
As the current Dodge Challenger is nearing the end of its production after 10 years, there is likely to be a new generation of Challenger which could possibly be the basis for a new Dodge Barracuda. Possibilities of bringing back the name Plymouth are unlikely for the FCA but as nothing is confirmed at this point, anything is possible.
