This post was really a response to seeing the headline, ‘Is Eleanor The Ultimate Muscle Car?’

As a starter for discussion, debate, argument, you could strictly say if this is referring to the Eleanor of the original film (a customized 1971 Ford Mustang, looking like a ’73 model) or the 2000 remake version of Eleanor (a 1967 Mustang Fastback).
Also, to some the Mustang is not even a muscle car, it’s a pony car.
Complicated? Possibly….

Really what the title should be, ‘Is Eleanor The Ultimate movie car?’
There are loads of contenders in that category, but Eleanor is the only car to receive a star title credit in a movie and to a generation, you only have to mention the name for people to know what it is, just like today saying the word ‘Bumblebee’ refers to a certain car in a certain film.

One thing is for sure, if it is the original or the remake movie, the Eleanor from ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ is definitely iconic and gave more than one generation a glimpse into how cool the Mustang is on the screen both in looks and sound.

Check out the car chase scene below from the remake of Gone in 60 seconds and you decide if Eleanor is possibly one of or even the ultimate movie muscle car.
