The Dodge Demon Has An Eco Mode Making 500 Horsepower

It may seem strange that the brand-new 2018 Challenger SRT Demon should have an ‘Eco mode’, but being a spirit from hell, it’s not your average Eco setting. Moreover, the taming of the beast for more mere mortals, without using its top mind bending power.

The Eco Mode on the Demon passes on first gear and blast the vehicle forward, starting in second gear with a limit of 500 horses. This still provides a quarter-mile time of 11.59 seconds, which is possibly enough for everyday use using regular pump gas.

The Demon also has another setting for regular use – ‘Valet Mode’ which only provides 300 hp and controls ESP and traction. Possibly enough power to still do a burnout, but that’s not the point here. It’s the setting for regular use.

You can unleash the full Demon with top line octane gasoline to give you the full 840HP, which will give you a quarter mile time in the nine second region, but this is just reserved for the track. Still, with regular pump gas the Demon is capable of 9.96 seconds at 136mph without breaking sweat.
