Which Cities Have The Most American Car Brands
Its very fitting that on the 4th July we look at which cities have the most domestic American car brands.
In today’s car building market, what is classed as truly ‘American’ is more blurred than before.
Foreign manufacturers are building more cars than ever in America, which you could argue are providing American jobs and are equally as American as anything else if built on American soil.
However, this is to look at the domestic car manufacturers and the most sold within US cities.
The data was extracted from Polk Automotive and Edmunds, which analyzed the highway share of domestic cars sold in the last 1,776 days. models used included Ford, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler and Tesla.
Cities with most domestic cars
City Percent of US-brand autos*
Alpena, Michigan 91.8%
Flint-Saginaw-Bay City, Michigan 88.4%
Glendive, Montana 85.3%
Detroit 84.3%
Traverse City-Cadillac, Michigan 77.7%
Marquette, Michigan 74.3%
Lansing, Michigan 73.2%
Minot-Bismarck-Dickinson, North Dakota 73%
Great Falls, Montana 72.6%
Sioux City, Iowa 71.3%
Michigan. Unsurprisingly came out on top with the most patriotic cities.
“The automotive industry has been a mainstay of the American economy and a part of the country’s identity throughout history,” said Edmunds.com Director of Industry Analysis Jessica Caldwell. “Identifying these cities as the ‘most patriotic’ based on American nameplates is our lighthearted way to recognize the legacy of these brands.”
So, although there is an ever-increasing amount of car manufacturers selling in the US, the American public still hold belief in domestic brands and where they are made.
