Boones Mill PD part With GTO for Regular Charger.

Boones Mill police department are renowned for having a muscle car to chase down the bad guys for the last 25 years, but now it’s time for a change.

The trend started in the mid-80s with their first Camaro with the car becoming renowned throughout the area.
“It’s unlikely would every get away from it. As far as I know, nobody ever did,” Deacon said. “It’s a status symbol for the community.” said Police Chief and active patrolman Dennis Deacon.

“You don’t speed through Boones Mill. You’re not going to get away,” Deacon said. “Lynn my predecessor really built that legacy with the muscle cars over the past 25 years.”

The current car, a GTO with a Corvette engine, is a 2 door and with the changes with today’s policing, a four-door vehicle was needed.
High-speed driving has decreased, with new roads and signage from VDOT, making the roads safer. That along with the need for carrying extra gear, means the need for a 4 door vehicle.

The car is to be replaced with a regular Dodge Charger,(why not the hellcat??) for the bulk of the police work.

The GTO is now for sale for those interested.
