The Big Two Match Up: Hellcat Challenger vs ZL1 Camaro Roll-on Race

With the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 making its way onto customer’s driveways, the first thing we need to know is how it matches up against its nearest competitors in particular, the Dodge Hellcat. This video goes a long way to answer that question with a roll on race between a stock 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

The 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat has a 6.2 L supercharged Hemi V8 with 77HP 650lbs. ft. of torque with an eight speed automatic transmission and a curb weight of 4,171 lbs, while the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has a 6.2 L V8 with 650 HP and 650lbs. ft. of torque, a six speed manual transmission and a curb weight of 3,850 lbs.

The idea is for John Hennessey and the team to use bone stock vehicles with street tires and no speed shifting to see which of the cars is the fastest. A manual vs. manual or automatic versus automatic would have been nice, but John addresses this point at the end of the video.
